Skier's Choice Draft Picks
Round 1 – Powder Selection, Pick 2“This ski is great!” Those were the first words out of my mouth when we re-grouped at the bottom of an excellent, albeit flatly lit Granite Canyon. Game over: All other skis now had to live up to this. The Rocker 2 is effortlessly stable, yet fast, light and nimble. This ski delivered super-star carving pow turns in the wide-open, as well as easy quickness in tighter steeps. It felt super floaty and it was easy to maneuver in any situation. The mechanics behind all these feelings are the Twin and Powder Rocker shape, giving the ski a full rocker profile from tip to tail with some camber underfoot. Also, the ski has a wood core, wide and reinforced edges for durability, with the addition of lightweight honeycomb material in both tip and tail for that lightness and float. A fun utensil for letting it rip at Jackson Hole, this would also be my choice for AK or anywhere else with deep snow and killer terrain.

Round 1 – Powder SelectionThe Rocker 2 makes skiing powder easy, ’nuff said! It is fat, lively, and tip/tail rocker allow the ski to float in the deepest of snow. It is lightweight but solid underfoot where it counts. Wood core and honeycomb material in the tip and tail keep it light and quick out of the turn. You can turn it up or noodle your way through the low angle pow. It can ski on and off trail with ease. One of the easiest and playful skis at 122mm underfoot you will ever find. The subtle rocker tip and tail doesn't let the ski flop around at speed on a groomer and chopped powder. It has become my ski of choice from day one.
|Description||“Rocker technology is relatively new and has changed a lot over the past few years. The Rocker 2 is the product of years of R&D and wasn’t finished until our team was 100 percent confident that it was the best it could be. Obviously, we wanted the ultimate powder ski but we also wanted something that performed well in all conditions and felt stable underfoot. Now that powder skis are more than 120mm wide, weight has become a huge issue. We’ve dramatically reduced the weight of the ski without affecting its strength and durability by utilizing a honeycomb structure in the tip and tail—this construction maintains stability but increases agility. The result is the ultimate powder ski. I haven’t been this proud of a product I’ve worked on since the Pocket Rocket.” —Mike Douglas|
