Day three of Powder Week: We get anywhere from 15 inches to three feet of blower depending on what side of the mountain you wake up on. I’m tired of Granite this morning, so we head over to Green River. South-facing smoothness with at least a foot on top—no sense in hiking too far, it’s all untracked. With the Double Helix on my feet (rocker in the tip, bamboo laminate core), I hit a fun little chute through a rocky gap and straightline for about 400 feet, pick up some speed and then lay it back a little and let this ski do its thing. We head back to the tram and go straight to Granite, where the D.H. does everything. Steeps? No problem. Trees? Just point into the void…I love these skis.
