Round 1 – Powder Selection, Pick 15
The opportunity to make fast open turns down untracked faces doesn’t come every day, so when it does, you want to have the right tools. The long turn radius and low profile tip combined with the right amount of rocker make the Renegade a charger. I’ve found that skis with more shape toward the tip tend to push back at speeds in untracked snow while these skis cut through like high-speed missiles. But the real surprise comes when you get to treeline and need something more agile. For being handmade by and for the aggressive-yet-smooth style of Eric Hjorliefson, they are surprisingly nimble, an effect of the sidecut matching the turn radius. I recommend mounting them close to center, which allows you to easily pivot and scrub speed when necessary. Other Draft Picks By Ian Fohrman
