| Description | For years, it has been my intent to put together a week-long ski tour into Yellowstone National Park with a crew of local rippers from Big Sky. Unfortunately, getting away for ski trips can be tough when you already live at your favorite ski hill. Finding a touring ski that is as useful on the down as it is on the up can be equally challenging, which is why the guys at DPS can hardly keep the world’s Wailer pipeline full. At a mere 7.8 pounds per pair, it is apparent that the folks in Salt Lake have spent excessive mental and physical energy on the Pure rendition of the Wailer 112 RP, so that the rest of us don’t have to. This ski is constructed entirely of lightweight carbon and nanotech laminate, which eliminates any room for excuses on the skin track. Meanwhile, its damp yet torsionally rigid flex pattern can handle descents of any pitch, speed, and snow condition that a moderately-informed Big Sky dirtbag may encounter the Yellowstone backcountry. - Alex Buecking |
