DREAM TRIP: Christmas Day at Alta During a Storm. It was Christmas Day, and it was dumping so hard that only Wildcat was open. UDOT was closing the road at 2 p.m. for avy control. With Christmas dinner on the docket, the place cleared out at 1:00. My friend and I had the resort to our- selves for the afternoon. Now that I have a family, I may be dreaming if I think I’ll ever get a Christmas like that again. In those dreams, I’ll be on the Shiro. With full rocker, vertical sidewall construction, and a beech/poplar core and carbon (no metal), it’s as good a ski for your private powder resort as there is. - Derek Taylor
