This boot transforms seamlessly from a traditional alpine boot to a more versatile do-all AT/sidecountry boot. I like that I can use them with my Dynafit touring setup, and the Vibram soles are handy when hiking the craggy aspects of Cody Peak. I always use Intuition liners and a custom footbed molded to my foot for the best transfer of energy from my leg to the skis. The Lange XT 130, my first choice, offers a stiffer flex, and I like a boot that will do most of the work for me. Added stiffness sacrifices tourability, however, where the Tecnica is superior.- A.J.
