Skier's Choice Draft Picks
Round 5 – Boot Selection, AT/Sidecountry/Telemark, Pick 12I had quite a bit of experience on the Quest 12, which debuted in 2009-10, and finally got to try the new Quest 14 this year. It is a giant step forward with its stiffer hiking sole and walk/tour mode, which I can now transfer from the lifts to the backcountry with the flick of the switch. The 12 was a little soft, and the extra stiffness with the 14 gives us beefier gentlemen a really versatile boot.
|Description||Building on the success of the Quest range, we’ve taken the boot to the next level of performance. The Quest 14 offers diverse options in all-mountain versatility and walkablility with the patented Ride & Hike technology, making it the first alpine boot that hikes as well as it rides—no compromises. Updated features include: longer magnesium backbone; a thicker, insulated boot board for a super stiff sole that equals more power transmission and puts your foot in optimal alpine position; a beefy race liner; spoiler and a forward pressure plate to enhance leverage over more powerful skis. In addition, the boot offers a new, lower volume fit. The Salomon Quest 14 delivers high performance alpine access. Anywhere.|
