Round 5 – Boot Selection, AT/Sidecountry/Telemark, Pick 4
The Quadrant comes in at 1,715 grams per boot with a 120 flex, stiff enough to convince charging freeriders to enter the touring market. With 40 degrees of travel in walk mode, the Quadrant eats up bootpacks and skintracks while the four-buckle system and stiff flex make for a snug, responsive fit to drive bigger skis. The Quadrant also has a more aggressive forward lean than most AT boots. A big plus this year is that the Quadrant (and seven other B.D. boots) gets a more articulated, warmer and easier to heat mold liner, which had been the primary knock against B.D. boots of the past.
